In a heartwarming turn of events, a tortoise that was recently spotted strolling along a railway track has been safely reunited with its owner.
The tortoise, named Tony, was seen wandering on the tracks at Southend Central station. According to the owner, Tony had been missing for two weeks before being discovered in Essex.
Train operator c2c reported that Tony had been “safely shell-tering” with staff at the ticket office. A company spokeswoman humorously noted, “We suspect he’s had quite the adventure, but for his future journeys, we suggest taking the train might be a faster option.”
Social media users responded with light-hearted comments, playfully suggesting that Tony was moving faster than the trains themselves.
