In a shocking turn of events in Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand, a man is accused of murdering his wife using snake venom to secure a Rs 25 lakh insurance payout. The disturbing details emerged following a formal complaint lodged by the victim’s brother with local authorities.
Shubham Chaudhary stands accused of the murder of his wife, Saloni Chaudhary, on August 11. This heinous act allegedly occurred less than a month after Shubham took out a life insurance policy for Rs 25 lakh, naming himself as the beneficiary.
According to a report by The Times of India, Saloni’s brother, Ajit Singh, has accused Shubham of orchestrating the murder to claim the insurance money. Singh further alleged that Shubham had a history of both physical and mental abuse toward Saloni. The abuse reportedly led Saloni to seek a divorce four years prior due to Shubham’s extramarital affair. Despite numerous community meetings aimed at resolving the issues, Shubham’s behavior allegedly remained unchanged.
Singh claimed that Shubham had taken out the insurance policy on July 15, just a month before Saloni’s death. Shubham had paid a Rs 2 lakh premium for the policy, which designated him as the nominee.
Following Ajit Singh’s complaint, a murder case has been filed against Shubham Chaudhary, his parents, and another individual under Section 103(1) of the BNS Act. Initially classified as a suspicious death, the case has been reclassified as a murder investigation. Saloni’s viscera have been sent for forensic analysis to gather further evidence against the accused.
