RICHMOND, Va. – Residents of Richmond’s Southside were left astonished Wednesday morning after discovering a six-foot boa constrictor atop a dumpster near the Crossings at Bramblewoods Apartments.
The sizable snake was found resting on a trash receptacle along Yellowpine Circle, located in the Westover Heights neighborhood off Jahnke Road. The unusual sight prompted both concern and curiosity among those who live in the area.
Richmond Animal Care and Control (RACC) responded to the incident and later shared their reaction on social media. “If you live off Yellowpine Circle and took your trash to the dumpster and peed your pants in fear, we got you,” RACC humorously posted. “For the love of all that is holy, this is insane.”
Photos of the snake were shared on RACC’s Facebook page, showing the reptile before it was safely removed by authorities and transported to the shelter.
In a lighthearted twist, the shelter named the boa constrictor “Waste Management,” a nod to its unusual choice of location. According to officials, the snake is set to be placed in foster care later in the day.
